The 5 Best FIRE Links
Fritz over at the Retirement Manifesto comes at us with an atypical FI post. It details his adventures with learning to fly drones. One key thing about early retirement is knowing how to productively apply your newfound time. Here, Fritz does that and also treats us to some great photos. What’s not to like?
Jason treats us to a bit of philosophy in this week’s post. Why do we buy unnecessary things? Jason is both a fan of minimalism and geoarbitrage. Both ways of life aid each other and his recent posts show this synergy.
In this post, Mr. and Ms. Our Next Life come out of the closet and reveal their real-life identities. Very ballsy, and something I’ll do once I’ve retired as well. They live on the gorgeous North Shore of Lake Tahoe and they have created a wonderful life for themselves. I love to see great examples of FI put into action, and these two are a great motivation.
This is an interesting post that introduces the Lifetime Wealth Ratio, which is another way to quantify your FI journey (and who doesn’t like to do that?). It also speaks quite a bit about Social Security, which I detailed in depth here. My default is to assume I’ll get nothing and let any amount received be icing on the cake, but not everyone is as extreme as that (or they’re older and more likely to receive full benefits).
The last link this week details a genius idea, which is self-explanatory in the title above. Read it!
That’s All, Folks
That’s all I’ve got for you this week. Go forth and conquer the weekend as a slightly wiser version of yourself!
