The 5 Best FIRE Links

Finding Focus in Chaos

Keith Schroeder, the Wealthy Accountant, came out with a beautiful post this week. “Finding Focus in Chaos” is a post I’m sure to read over and over again. Essential, he entreats the reader to single-mindedly put their energy into that which is most important to them. Politics, money, the often dreadful news…it is all secondary to your core mission. If you ever find your focus wavering, read this post for a quick tune-up.

When he’s not planning lunar Bitcoin mining operations, Justin at RootofGood spends a considerable amount of time traveling. As the title implies, this post focuses on Milan, Italy. It’s a refreshing reminder for me to read his posts, as traveling is one of my main motivations for pursuing this FI lifestyle. Next week he’ll be in Venice, which is one of my favorite cities.

FI Action Series: House Hacking and Financial Independence

Drew, a guest poster this week at Apathy Ends, goes over the concept of “house hacking”. Basically, it means creatively minimizing what is typically your largest expense every month. Minimizing your housing expense will give your FI journey a massive boost. I’m looking forward to taking advantage of house hacking!

We Retired Early! // Our Next Life Begins

Tanja and Mark made it! They’re officially retired and while they haven’t fully processed it yet, their excitement leaps off the page (er…screen) at you. While they have plans set for their first year of retirement, Year 2 is wide open! They’re nicely straddling the line between having too little and too much planned. It’s always great to see other personal finance bloggers succeed and Tanja has raised many points during her journey that I hadn’t thought about previously. Congrats, Tanja and Mark!

The Dream of Barista FIRE

This week, the Financial Panther introduced me to an interesting concept: Barista FIRE. Essentially, it’s like FIRE-lite. Instead of being fully retired, get to the point where a FUN but low-paying job is enough to sustain you indefinitely. He mentions that his favorite job ever was working at his local golf course, despite being paid $8 an hour. This is an important concept that I hadn’t really thought about, so I’m glad this got on my radar.

That’s All, Folks!

That’s all I’ve got for you this week. Go forth and conquer the weekend as a slightly wiser version of yourself!

Which post(s) resonated with you most this week? Is there a post that you loved that you think I should check out? Let me know!
